Clarence P. Cazalot, Jr. is President and CEO of Marathon Oil Corporation, an international energy corporation engaged in exploration and production; oil sands mining; integrated gas; and refining, marketing and transportation operations. He joined Marathon in March 2000. Mr. Cazalot also serves on the Board of Directors of Baker Hughes, the US Saudi Arabian Business Council, the American Petroleum Institute, the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) and the Greater Houston Partnership.

Hillary R. Clinton

U.S. Senator, State of New York


Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton was elected to the United States Senate by the people of New York on November 7, 2000, after years of public service on behalf of children and families. She is the first First Lady of the United States elected to public office and the first woman elected independently statewide in New York State. A strong advocate for New York, Senator Clinton works with communities throughout the state to strengthen the economy and expand opportunity. She serves on the Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee; the Environment and Public Works Committee; the Special Committee on Aging; and she is the first New Yorker ever to serve on the Senate Armed Services Committee.

Mark Finley

Head of Energy Analysis, BP America, Inc.


Mark Finley is responsible for long- and short-term analysis of global energy markets. In addition to covering the economics and politics of world oil and natural gas markets, he has produced market assessments for electricity, carbon and coal. Mr. Finley also manages the annual production of the BP Statistical Review of World Energy, now in its 56th year. He also chairs the American Petroleum Institute's Committee on Economics and Statistics. He is a member of the International Association of Energy Economics and an elected member of the U.S. Conference of Business Economists.

Dana Flanders

President, Chevron Technology Ventures


Dana F. Flanders is President of Chevron Technology Ventures (CTV), a division of Chevron USA which champions innovation, commercialization and integration of emerging technologies and related new business models within the corporation. CTV's business units include biofuel, hydrogen, emerging energy and venture capital investing. He assumed this position in May 2006.

James T. Hackett

President & CEO, Anadarko Petroleum Corporation


James T. Hackett is Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Anadarko Petroleum Corporation, one of the world's largest independent oil and gas exploration and production companies. He joined the company in December 2003 as its President and CEO. Mr. Hackett's energy experience includes positions in engineering, finance, marketing and executive management with such current and former industry leaders as Devon Energy, Duke Energy, NGC Corp., Burlington Resources and Amoco Oil Co.

Thad Hill

Executive Vice President and President NRG Texas


Thad Hill manages NRG's largest regional portfolio of power generating assets, totaling over 10,500 megawatts of power in Texas. Prior to joining NRG, he was Executive Vice President of Strategy and Business Development at Texas Genco, LLC, a position he held until the company's acquisition by NRG Energy. Mr. Hill also served as Vice President and Director of The Boston Consulting Group, Inc. where he led the North American energy practice, serving companies in the power and gas sector with a focus on commercial and strategic issues.

John Hofmeister

President, Shell Oil Company


John Hofmeister was appointed Shell US Country Chair and President of Shell Oil Company in March 2005. Mr. Hofmeister is the immediate past Chairman of the Partership's Board of Directors and its Executive Committee. He currently chairs the board's nominating committee and its Energy Collaborative Cluster Council. He also serves as Chairman of the Board for the National Urban League and as member of the board of the American Petroleum Institute.

Dr. Mae Jemison

President, The Jemison Group


Dr. Mae C. Jemison served six years as a NASA astronaut and was the first woman of color in the world to go into space. She flew aboard the Space Shuttle Endeavour in September 1992. Afterward, she founded The Jemison Group, a technology consulting firm that considers the socio-cultural impacts when designing technologies. As an environmental studies professor at Dartmouth College, Dr. Jemison taught courses on sustainable development and technology design.

Robert C. Kelly

Founding Partner, DKRW Energy LLC


Bob Kelly is the Chairman of DKRW Advanced Fuels and has more than 25 years experience in creating renewable energy companies and the development, financing, construction and operation of large electric power cogeneration facilities. Prior to co-founding DKRW in 2002, he served as interim CEO of EPV, a New Jersey-based solar photovoltaic manufacturer, and led the successful effort to raise $14 million of new equity. Additionally, he led the development of the 1,875 megawatt Teesside power project in the UK. In 2002, Dr. Kelly published a book entitled, "The Carbon Conundrum: Global Warming and Energy Policy in the Third Millennium."

Dr. Renu Khator

President, University of Houston


Renu Khator, Ph.D. is a devoted educator, seasoned administrator and respected scholar. She was recently appointed Chancellor of the University of Houston System and President of the University of Houston. Prior to assuming the helm, she served as Provost of the University of South Florida from 2003 to 2007, and was dean of the College of Arts and Sciences for three years prior. Dr. Khator has an extensive record of board service and community involvement, and was recently elected to the Board of Directors of the Greater Houston Partnership.

Buddy Kleemeier

Chairman, Independent Petroleum Producers Association


Buddy Kleemeier is a respected authority in the energy industry who, during the past 15 years, has developed and maintained an on-going analysis and study of North American natural gas supply and demand. He has addressed his findings and conclusions on this subject to numerous groups, most notably the Independent Petroleum Association of America; the Natural Gas Supply Association of America; the Oklahoma Corporation Commission; NARUC; TIPRO; the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission; the Federal Energy Bar, and the United States Senate Energy and Natural Resources committee. Mr. Kleemeier serves as President and CEO of Kaiser-Francis Oil Co., a privately owned independent exploration and production company headquartered in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Antonio Martins da Costa

President & CEO, Horizon Wind Energy


António Martins da Costa joined Horizon in July 2007 as CEO and Chairman of Horizon Wind Energy. Mr. Martins da Costa is also the CEO and Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors of Energias do Brasil and Chairman of the Board of Directors of its subsidiaries in Brazil. He started his professional career in 1976 as a lecturer at the Superior Engineering Institute of Porto, joined EDP in 1981 and moved to the financial sector in 1989, assuming the positions of General Manager and Executive Board Member of insurance companies, pension funds and asset management operations of Banco Comercial Português. He also served as the director of Eureko BV (Holland).

Aubrey McClendon

CEO, Co-founder and Chairman, Chesapeake Energy


Aubrey K. McClendon has served as Chairman of the Board, Chief Executive Officer and Director of Chesapeake Energy Corporation (NYSE: CHK) since he co-founded the company with Tom L. Ward in 1989 with only a $50,000 initial investment and an objective to build a sizeable natural gas exploration and production company. The company is the largest independent producer of natural gas in the U.S. and the most active driller of new wells in the U.S.

Mr. McClendon is the founder and Chairman of the American Clean Skies Foundation, a Washington, D.C. - based think tank formed to promote clean-burning, American-produced natural gas and conservation as the best solutions to the country's environmental and energy challenges.

Robert A. Mosbacher

former U.S. Secretary of Commerce


Robert Mosbacher was appointed Secretary of Commerce by President Bush on December 6, 1988 and was confirmed 100 – 0 by the United States Senate. He served as Secretary through 1992. Mr. Mosbacher is the Chairman of Mosbacher Energy Company and the Mosbacher Power Group. Mr. Mosbacher served as the General Chairman of the Republican National Committee, General Chairman of the George Bush Re-Election Committee, National Finance Chairman for the George Bush for President Committee and also for the President Ford Committee in 1976.

Jeff Moseley

President and CEO, Greater Houston Partnership


Jeff Moseley began his tenure as President and CEO of the Greater Houston Partnership on July 1, 2005. Under his leadership, the Partnership has launched an ambitious 10-year strategic plan to build economic prosperity in the Houston region. It focuses on growing jobs by 600,000; increasing capital investment by $60 billion, and expanding foreign trade by $120 billion. In 2007, more than 60,000 new jobs were added to the region. Capital investment grew by $6 billion and foreign trade increased by $15.2 billion.


Prior to joining the Partnership, Moseley was the CEO of the Office of the Governor for Economic Development and Tourism, a position he held from 2003 to 2005. Under his leadership, Texas won the coveted Governor's Cup award from Site Selection magazine. The yearly award is given to the state that has the most facilities announcements for that year. Moseley was also instrumental in overseeing the $295 million Texas Enterprise Fund, landing the $3 billion Texas Instruments Expansion and closing the Citgo move to Houston.

President, Chevron Africa and Latin America Exploration & Production


Ali Moshiri is President, Chevron Africa and Latin America Exploration and Production Company, a newly formed organization based in Houston, Texas. He is responsible for upstream operations in Africa and Latin America.

Scott Nyquist

Director, McKinsey & Company


Scott Nyquist is a Director in McKinsey & Company's Houston Office and a leader in McKinsey's Energy Practice. He joined McKinsey in 1984 and worked in McKinsey's London Office between 1985 and 1998. Scott has extensive experience in helping private and public sector energy and materials clients develop and implement strategies and major change programs that significantly improve their performance.

James Oberwetter

former ambassador to Saudi Arabia


James C. Oberwetter was selected by President George W. Bush to serve as U.S. Ambassasor to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in 2003. During his appointment, he shepherded a strategic repositioning of the U.S./Saudi relationship which had not been addressed since September 11th. Upon returning to Dallas, he founded Oberwetter & Company, LLC, a firm specializing in advising companies and institutions on strategies to resolve public policy issues. His extensive resume includes serving as Senior Vice President for domestic and international governmental affairs strategies with Hunt Consolidated, Inc. and a stint as Press Secretary to President George H.W. Bush during his congressional tenure.

Carl Pope

Executive Director, Sierra Club


Carl Pope was appointed Executive Director of the Sierra Club in 1992. A veteran leader in the environmental movement, Mr. Pope has been with the Sierra Club for nearly thirty years. During Mr. Pope's tenure , Sierra Club added 150,000 new members, growing to 700,000 of your friends and neighbors. The Club's importance extends beyond numbers, though. The Aspen Institute, after surveying every member of Congress and key federal officials, named the Sierra Club as the most influential environmental organization in Washington, D.C.

Rhone Resch

President, Solar Industries Energy Association


Rhone Resch is the President of the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA), the national trade association for the solar industry. In this role, he is responsible for all aspects of the association's operations and the implementation of SEIA's strategic priorities. Mr. Rhone is a registered lobbyist with more than 15 years experience working in clean energy development and climate change issues. He has developed energy efficiency programs to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and hazardous air pollutants from petroleum industry.

John Richels

President, Devon Energy Corporation


John Richels was elected president of Devon in 2004 and elected to the board of directors in 2007. He previously served as a Senior Vice President of Devon and President and CEO of Devon's Canadian subsidiary. Richels joined Devon through its 1998 acquisition of Canadian-based Northstar Energy Corp. Prior to joining Northstar, Richels was Managing and Chief Operating Partner of the Canadian-based national law firm, Bennett Jones. While employed at Bennett Jones in the 1980s, Richels served as general counsel of the XV Olympic Winter Games Organizing Committee in Calgary.

Lane Sloan

Special Assistant to the Provost and Director, University of Houston's Strategic Energy Alliance


Sloan was the Chairman of the Greater Houston Partnership’s Energy Collaborative these past two years during its critical organization and early actions phases. The Energy Collaborative purpose is to perpetuate Greater Houston as the Energy Capital of the world capitalizing on the strengths of Texas. He is also the Special Assistant to the Provost and Director of the University of Houston’s Strategic Energy Alliance whose mission is to establish UH as a recognized leader locally and globally in energy education, research and outreach.

Frank Steininger

Frank Steininger is a partner in the Assurance practice in the PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP Houston office. He has directed a wide variety of audit engagements of public and private companies in the petroleum, chemical and mining industries. He currently serves such clients as Marathon Oil Company and Shell Oil Company. He has significant SEC reporting experience including IPO's, equity and debt offerings and acquisitions. He also has significant international experience including a two-year tour in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Dan Watkins

Ph.D., Managing Director, DFJ Mercury


Dan is a Managing Director with DFJ Mercury Venture Partners, a Texas-based venture capital firm. DFJ Mercury is a partner in the global intelligence network of Draper Fisher Jurvetson funds. Dan’s responsibilities include the cleantech (energy) and life sciences sectors of the fund’s investments and many of his investments involve creating companies based on university technologies. Dan and his partners are creating new companies in energy sectors like ultra-efficient solid state lighting, high performance batteries and high value chemicals manufactured from renewable waste streams. Dan is a co-founder of the Rice Alliance for Technology and Entrepreneurship and teaches venture capital as an Adjunct Professor at Rice University.

Bill White

Mayor, City of Houston


Mayor White's leadership has brought Houston together, as shown by his overwhelming re-election to a third term. He uses business practices every day at City Hall to improve service and get things done.


Americans witnessed his hands-on management style when he helped lead Houston's competent, compassionate response to Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.


Mayor White is now accelerating work to revitalize our City's most neglected neighborhoods, with his Houston Hope Initiative. He also initiated a program to weatherize thousands of homes in older neighborhoods, saving homeowners an average of 20 percent on their electricity bills.


He previously served as Deputy Secretary of Energy of the United States, where he helped diversify national energy supplies and saved taxpayers billions of dollars with management reforms.

Dan Wolterman

President and CEO, Memorial Hermann; Chairman, Greater Houston Partnership


Mr. Wolterman serves as the 2008 Partnership's Chairman of the Board for the Greater Houston Partnership. Mr. Wolterman also served as the Chairman of the Air Quality Task Force.


He was selected President and CEO of Memorial Hermann Healthcare System (MHHCS) in November 2002. Wolterman joined MHHCS in May 1999 as Senior Vice President of hospital operations. He was responsible for operations and activities of the System, including acute care hospitals.


Prior to Memorial Hermann, Wolterman served as Senior Vice President of the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word Health Care System. He has more than 20 years of experience in various executive positions in the health care industry.


His community involvement includes the Texas Hospital Association, Community Health Care Corporation, National Committee for Quality Health Care, Coalition to Protect America's Healthcare, American Heart Association, Houston Minority Business Council and Xavier University MHA Alumni Association. He is also an adjunct professor at the University of Texas School of Public Health.


Wolterman received numerous honors, including Modern Health Care's "Up and Comers" Award. He is a diplomat of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
